Monte Cristo Sliders
These Monte Cristo Sliders are the perfect sweet and savory bite for game day, showers, holidays, and any gathering. Made with turkey, ham, Swiss cheese, raspberry preserves, and a buttery Dijon topping, they’re always a crowd favorite!
Saturdays in the South start early, especially during college football season, and these Monte Cristo Sliders are the perfect way to kick off game day. They’re sweet, savory, cheesy, buttery, and so easy to grab while everyone is gathered around watching football.
But these sliders aren’t just a football-season favorite around here. I make them for baby showers, wedding showers, Easter, holiday gatherings, and pretty much any excuse to feed a crowd. They are ALWAYS a hit, and I’m constantly asked to make them.
So if you’ve ever had these at my house and thought, “I need that recipe,” here it is! Now you can make my favorite crowd-pleasing Monte Cristo Sliders right at home.
📝 Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian rolls, kept connected
- ½ cup raspberry or strawberry preserves
- ½ pound deli turkey, thinly sliced
- ½ pound deli honey ham, thinly sliced
- 12 slices Swiss cheese
- 6 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1½ tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1½ tablespoons mayonnaise
- Powdered sugar, for garnish
👩🍳 Directions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- 2
Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping them connected, and place the bottom half on the prepared baking sheet.
- 3
Spread the raspberry preserves evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
- 4
Add 6 slices of Swiss cheese, followed by the turkey and ham. Top with the remaining 6 slices of Swiss cheese.
- 5
In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and mayonnaise.
- 6
Brush the butter mixture over the inside of the top half of the rolls and place it on top of the sliders.
- 7
Brush the remaining butter mixture over the tops of the rolls until coated but not soggy. You may have some sauce leftover, and that’s okay.
- 8
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- 9
Let the sliders cool for a few minutes, then transfer them to a serving dish. Dust with powdered sugar, cut into individual sandwiches, and serve.
💡 Tips for Success
- Keep the rolls connected: Keeping the Hawaiian rolls together while assembling and baking makes these much easier to handle and helps the sliders stay together.
- Don’t oversaturate the buns: Brush the buttery mixture generously over the tops, but don’t soak the rolls. You may have sauce left over.
- Use raspberry preserves: Raspberry is my favorite because the sweet-tart flavor works so well with the salty ham and Swiss cheese, but strawberry preserves work too.
- Slice after baking: Let the sliders cool for a few minutes before cutting them apart so the cheese has a chance to set slightly.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make these ahead of time?
You can assemble the sliders ahead of time and refrigerate them until you’re ready to bake. For the best texture, wait to add the buttery topping until just before baking.
What kind of ham should I use?
Thin-sliced deli honey ham works best because it adds a little sweetness that pairs with the preserves.
Can I use a different cheese?
Absolutely. Swiss gives these their classic Monte Cristo flavor, but provolone or Gruyère would also work well.
